The Save a Copy command works just like the Save As command, except that it will not alter the current picture.

This can be useful when you want to save a picture to a lesser format for a particular purpose without destroying the original. For example, you might want to save a layered 32-bit picture to GIF format for your website. GIF doesn't support layers, 16 million colors or alpha channel transparency, so it will need to be heavily altered in order to fit the limitations of the GIF format. If you use Save a Copy, you can keep your original high quality version picture intact so you can use it again in the future.
